The book is set a couple of years after the first one and although there is only character from the original book (Ian Malcolm), it still uses a pretty number of characters to make it beautiful. I find a lot of people discuss the "resurrection" of Ian Malcolm in their reviews, and I'd like to throw in my two cents. It's true, Malcolm is mentioned as dead at the end of Jurassic Park.
