Rendition As Books La Part de l'autre

Excellent writing with a complex story structure. What if we would have been friend with Hitler, if he wasn't Hitler as we know him ? A story that makes us take a step back, to realize how life choices can reveal a side or another of a personality.Great idea ... what would have happened if Adolf Hitler had been accepted @ Vienne's art university ?What if he had grown up with culture and diversity ? All along the book the real story and the possible one are side by side going on until 1943 and longer ...REALLY GREAT !!!!
The archetypal story of following the life that was and the life that could have been gets a news twist in this exploration of what Hitler's life could have been if a slightly different turn had been taken at a critical juncture. Quite a daring (near suicidal) proposition for a writer, but Schmitt pulls it off, with a successful balancing act of fact and fiction. An introspection that leaves the reader wondering if there could be a little bit (or a lot) of Hitler in any human being, ready to be

I like everything he wrote about the making of Hitler, how his character developed, how increasingly fanatical he became and what drove him to the point of insanity.I like how at the starting point, both Hitler and Adolf H. are the same person with the same personality (idealistic, a bit extreme, over confident, anger issue, etc.) and I like how they encounter almost every major events in their lives similarly (two wars, mental health, childhood traumas) but wound up to be two very different
Strange feeling... I wanted to throw the book away because I felt sick reading about Hitler, and yet, I couldn't put it down. It was interesting, but I don't think I'll re-read it. The Adolf H. parts of the book were superficial and the character was bland, IMHO.
My favorite book ! Just amazing...
